At last we shall be landing in Toronto on 8th of August. Thanks for the support of the seniors like ftfl, prince etc; We have arranged furnished apartment for first few days in North York. I have read on many posts about allowed goods to be brought in. My wife wanted to know if she could bring in home made pickles, fresh coconuts(cut), dried fish etc;.. An early reply on this would be appreciated.
Thanks

No, those items cannot be brought in under normal circumstances.
You may be able to do so by filling out a whole bunch of forms and having them inspected and whatnot, but it's not worth the trouble.
And if you are coming to Toronto, every one of those items is available here.
No need to bring from India.

What I did, was to get the Pickles packaged in a sealed heavy plastic see through material. Even then it seeps through. So I doubled it in a ZIPLOCK bag. I went prepared for all of these from Canada. Then used a bubble pack to cushion. In short I babied the consignment. It reached home ( Canada) safe. It tastes great.
The rest of the stuff is available here, the dried fish such as anchovies are in eight ounce see through pack. Salt Cod is available in plenty. Bombelli, is there in a few Indian Stores.
Coconut shavings are in the freezer section. Costs about three bucks. Coconuts are 99 cents. Good Quality. In some places it is slightly higher. You will need one of the coconut shavers to get the texture of the shavings or fire the chunks in a blender, then save.
Hope this helps a little.
Do I cook too??, YES, I am the chief cook cum bottle washer, Gardner by the evening and Day trader if the sun comes out.

CBSA will confiscate your meat and other products. Read the declaration form that the Airlines will give you in the last leg of the flight. (Getting into Canada)
