Explorer

Could you please give us some background as to why do you want to return?

Since you have been here so long, your thoughts would be useful

Thnx

Timon

Big malls, cars, fast food & broad highways is not a life.

Anyway, I am moving back to India in the beginning of next year.

Welcome back...
Things have changed dramatically in this country in last couple of years.
Though infrastructure is still a problem but you will really njoy the Malls here as you can eat all delicious chat patta indian food. You will also have option of eating continental foods in any malls you go. Plus you can njoy in world class theatres indian or hollywood movies.

In short now in India you can get best of both the East and the West.

There are many people in this forum who might not have visited India in the last 5-6 years & hence the changes in India still do not register with them.

Recently I had a contact here who visited India after 5-6 years & he was amazed by the changes in India. We were 4-5 Indians chatting here & all people were chatting by the laid-back attitude of Indians, the dirt, etc. But this guy said that there have been lots of changes in the attitude of the people he met & they have become very dynamic, lots of efforts are being made to remove dirt, etc. (which is not there in every place & still a lot more remains to be done).

I just moved last year & hence have experienced the multiplex theatres, the malls, etc. & maybe that is the reason I do not find much difference in these things in Canada. In short if you are willing to work hard in India, there are many avenues (other than security, cleaning, retail store, taxi-driving, etc. kind of jobs) open for you to make money & lead a comfortable life in India.

With easy availability of loans, etc. one can afford cars, houses, bikes (yes, bikes), etc. & enjoy the malls, movies, masti, magic, etc.

Ofcourse it will take a long time to come to the western standards of cleanliness, etc. But these malls, movie theatres are definitely kept spotless clean.

I hope to follow you guys back to India next year .

Thanks & regards.

Rajan.

Dear Rajan,
I understand your feelings.
I think you should atleast get canadian passport so that in future if your kids want to move to canada they can.
Another thing , have you explored getting some canadian qualification . that might help in getting some good job.
Rajan as you know i have lost my PR status in canada but some time i was thinking to again have a try at CHC for revival of same on C & H grounds but after reading so much on CD and your detailed personal experiences frankly speaking i left the idea for again trying it.
In nutshell now i undestand it is the lure to live in western world that attracts us most, also there is our expectations that our kid will do good there that contribute significantly in our settling there. but as you also mentioned in one of your post that kids watch tv and hardly get any time to go outside. when we ourselves dont feel secure there what type of future we can give to our kids there .
its really a catch 22 situation . i myself have gone through all this pain and misery.
Things are definately changing here. here in delhi after introduction of CNG fuel they is marked decrease in pollution levels. Another good thing happend is METRO TRAINS. they are even better than subways in canada.
You can see big malls emerging everywhere. offcourse crimes are there . but keeping huge population in view proporation will be more or less same that of canada.
India is having hardly sixty years of independence and really made a wonderful progress in last decade.
though povery may not vanish completely here for another fifty years . but for middle class persons like we , there is immense potential to grow as there is all round growth.

wish you all the best,

ptm

Hello guys..

I read all your replies which in nutshell are telling me it is difficult to make it in Canada as well as US !!
I don't know what to say..
My first question is..
If you realise that you are stuck into odd jobs..what is the way to come out of it? Or there is no way...
I heard the govt. helps by giving loan to requalify..
How does that help?
Instead of sticking in odd jobs for years why don't people get hold of this opportunity and requalify themselves..

Anyway I just heard a good news that my Husband's friend who moved few months back got the job in her field within a month of landing..that too at Supervisor level !!
So we are currently improving our networking..and hoping for good future no matter what hurdles are in our way..

Thanks
