Hi,
My parents are visiting me on the visitor's visa in USA. I have got job in Toronto, and planning to move there soon. I have got my parents Canadian Single Entry visitors visa which is valid only until Oct. 27th. (That is also their last valid date of stay in US).
During visa application we mentioned that they want to stay in Canada only for 15 days.
Can we ask for 5 months stay when they enter Canada?? Visa is just needed for entering the country and the stay is determined at the port of Entry. Does anybody have any idea/experience in this regard?
Please advise.
Thanks,
Deep
Recently my Uncle came to visit us in Canada on a visitor visa from USA. he was on a visitor visa in US. He was given the Canadian visa - Single entry upto October end only . Meaning - Since they have applied for a Canadian Visa from US, their legal stay in US was taken into consideration and a visa was given until the date on US I-94 only. This is specifically done to stop any misuse of status / travelling between two countries/ extend stay etc.
In our case, my uncle came to Canada, left canada in 3 days and also leaving US before end of OCtober. So no problem .
In your case
1. The easy and correct solution is to come and return within the validity period
2. REapply for a Visitor visa and mention that the intention to stay longer
3. Land and apply for extension ( difficult, need a professional advice )
Hope it helps
