Hello everyone,
I was a silent reader of this site for long. Have gotten good info thro' reading.
I have a big problem right now. I am moving back to India with my family. I have applied for OCI in Feb. 2006 since it is said on the site that it will be issued in a month still we thought that it might come a little later but till today there is nothing about it. I came to know from one of my friend that this process is taking longer than expected so I wrote an email to consular general after a week of my application to request it to stop the process & we will just take PIO for now & from India only we will apply for OCI. But he said that he couldn't do anything & asked us to wait till the 2nd week of April. Till today we have not even gotten any file number. I have been sending him reminder email all the time. I have also given him options like if I will just forget about the money that I have spend on OCI & reapply for PIO or I can just take visitor visa to India now & give these people 'change in address' & have them send my OCI on address in India.
Can anybody suggest me any way of doing it right?
Thanks in advance.
This is interesting. In Ottawa, it was easy. Try to get an appt. with the concerned person and meet him/her face to face. Explain your situation. See if u can transfer the file to India if it is taking mroe time in Canada.
I dont see a big difference between PIO and OCI. The only difference is the time limit. I think PIO is for 20 yrs and OCI is lifelong. And 20 yrs is a long time.
Good luck.
