Hi guys,
Ever since I was introduced to Canadiandesi.com by a friend, I have been regular on this site. Reason: I am moving to Canada in next three months. What is frustrating, however, is that most guys ( and gals) talk of and about Toronto only. I really wonder if there is Canada beyond Toronto (or Ontario, at the most). It may be that I have got all wrong till now. I thought this site was about moving to Canada and to help the new desis in migrating smoothly.
Or should this site be renamed 'Desisintoronto.com'
No offence meant to anyone, of course...
Most of the members on this site are living in and around Toronto. That is why there is so much reference to Toronto. This site has a few members from Alberta and British Columbia(Immigration expert Mr Massood is from Vancouver and he is active on the forum) and other provinces but they are not active on the forum.
There could be provinces where your skill is higly in demand and others provinces where your skill is not in demand at all or there is so much competition.
Maybe it just happens that an Indian landing in Canada happens to know someone or other in or around Toronto and he chooses to land here. There are plenty of Punjabis in Vancouver and BC but they are not active on this site.
It would much better to have representation from all the provinces so as to present a complete picture of Canada.

Hi Sahrawat,
I understand your dilemma. I've also encountered that and also noticed that most of the people who post in this site are from Toronto or are planning to go there. I have conducted research too why immigrants have Toronto/ Ontario as their top destination. Well, the top reason is there are more job opportunities in those areas. But you need not think like \"it's Toronto or nothing.\"
Don't get frustrated. you don't have to agree with everybody, i.e., you may wish to ask any question even if you're not settling down in Toronto (like me). At least, this site will be very helpful to you should you need to clarify any confusion that you may have prior to and after your landing.
Cheer up!
Hello:
I landed in Toronto initially three years back. However, I secured jobs outside of the GTA- in Barrie,Collingwood (2 hours NW of Toronto). Now I work in Peterborough (2 hours NE of Toronto). You would find in an earlier posting of mine details of life and jobs in these places.Cost of living is much lower; as also are jobs(at least you would not find so much competition for these jobs as you see.
Any clarifications, pl write in.

Hi Sahrawat I think you have not read about people seeking guidance about moving from Toronto to Alberta/Calgary. So don't think Toronto is only place in Canada. Though it is really a popular place to land here or Vancouvar but so many other places as well so don't be desperate about canada
