As someone sugested above, ICICI has really good plans.

When my wife and our son came here last year, it cost us a little less than INR 7500 for a three month medical cover, upto USD 250,000.

Their issuing process was quick, and easy. I would recommend ICICI.

Incase you prefer getting insurance once you land here; do bear in mind that most insurance companies will issue medical cover, only if you apply within 30 days of arrival in Canada.

Thanx soberflier and other canadian desis. We need all the luck. My husband and I have decided to take insurance in India mostly with Thomas Cook who collab with Tata AIG.

I must really really thank this forum and this website. I think every bit of info is very useful for new immigrants like me and in some ways I feel less scared about landing in canada now.

Hi !
My personal opinion is "The best bet is to buy the insurance from a local Dr. here . It might be little bit expensive but than a Dr. will be easily and readily avlbl . In case anybody wants I can suggest the name of this GOOD Dr. who is located in Markham and offers good services.

I have very bad experience with visitor insurance.

The Dr's name is Dr Rehman .. He is in Markham ( Markham and Denison ) ..his tel no is 905-472-7400 .
I just chkd with him recently ..He is charging $ 50 a visit / $ 100 for a month ..

Canada insurance is better ...although no one will cover pre-existing conditions .

ICICI is the worst , don't take that
