Hi Friends,

If someone coming from India to Canada for a month, Is it advisable to buy travel and medical insurance from India?Insurance should cover all medical expenses in Canada including doctor's consultation, medicines purchased ( if recommended by doctor) and hospitalization expenses.

Please suggest as what would be a better option to cover travel and medical during stay in Canada for a month.

In the past I had taken insurance thru CAA. Take the insurance from the day they are flying in and till the date they reach destination. Had tried other insurance as well..but do not recollect the name. They are pretty much same with same conditions and a dollar here or there.

It is preferable to apply for insurance coverage with a Canadian Insurance company. Some of the benefits include easier claim procedures. It is easier to get your money back since Canadian insurers can easily establish direct billing and you wont have to pay anything out of your own pocket.
