I have moved to Langley, BC from Mississauga, ON, a few days back. I got a job offer from a construction company and I'll be working in the Walnut Grove area.
If anybody has an apt/shared acco/ any info on acco in Walnut Grove/Willowbrook/Langley Centre could you pl share?
Can you please share with the board the kind of job that you got in that area. Apparantly a lot of people are getting construction related jobs in BC and moving there. I am not sure of the reason for the availability of jobs there.

I had been applying for civil engineering related jobs all over Canada especially Ontario, Alberta and Manitoba. I was also into the co-op program with dufferin peel. I had dropped my resumes in almost every construction company I came across and some of the major recruiting companies. One company interviewed me for a job as Project Scheduler for their project in Manitoba. I got a placement through the co-op program on the last day of the co-op and on the same day this company called me for a telephonic interview. I had dropped my resume on their website and even contacted their office in Toronto in Januray 06. I agreed for it as it was for the post of Project Control Specialist as my field of expertise is Project Scheduling, Estimating and Quantity Surveying. After the initial interview they provided me with air tickets and hotel acco in Vancouver. Also the other company offered me a job in Manitoba but I asked for some time to decided. Meanwhile the company in Vancouver forwarded my details to their head office in the U.S which later checked my references and offered the job.
I can let you know thru my brief visit in B.C that there is a lot of construction activity here due to the Winter Olympics in 2010 but I found that people observe how one communicates. The way you present oneself is more important than what skill you are equipped with. Probably one could take a risk moving to Vancouver but it would take some time to settle down w.r.t the surroundings and getting to know sources in your field.
Thank you very much for your reply. Your reply will help a lot of Civil engineers stuck in the GTA with labour jobs.
All the best in your career and job.
