Need info. about Used Cars
Hi,
Looking for information regarding buying a used car:
Is it advisable to buy a car from a private owner or should I consider used car dealers? Most of the used car dealers provide power/tran warranty, which is not so incase of a private owner. However, if problem occurs with engine/transmission, how easy/tough is it to claim damages under warranty from the dealer? Feedback about used car dealers in GTA area is really bad………….I don’t know why?
I have narrowed down my search to the following used cars:
a. Toyota corolla
b. Toyota camry
c. Honda civic
d. Honda accord
I am looking for models in the range of 1997-01 with odometer readings between 100000-140000.
Various review websites mentions that Toyota is a better car than Honda, which is over hyped and cost of parts is also more than Toyota spare parts.
Which car is better, in terms of cost of maintenance & durability, Toyota corolla or Toyota Camry?
Can an auto mechanic make out the real condition of a car (including engine/transmission) just by driving it for 15 mins? I guess not, and therefore while buying a used car, luck plays a major role. Am I correct?
Looking forward to feedbacks.
Thanx

well if u r only looking between camry and corolla, depends on ur need. camry is full size car and has 2 engine variants (v6 and 4 cylinder) but corolla is intermediate and only comes in 4 cylinder. i personally like v6 bcoz of smoother ride and longer engine life.
about the car condition a good mechanic can give u the idea after driving it. or take ur car to canadian tire they can run some test on the car to give you rough idea about the car.

There is not much left in a car after 100,000 , I have worked with Honda, can swear on their quality...............Toyota is equally but cheaper to maintain ......how ever all Hondas cater to the better off segment of the society.
Happy Driving
