Whenever buying a new car, get the invoice prices from APA / Car Cost Canada.
Use this invoice price to negotiate with dealerships till you get the best price.
I know quite a few people who have been able to score a deal at invoice price + 500 CAD (recently).

Price the car you want online at the manufacturers website, walk in or call up the dealership.
You will know how far apart or closer you are from the dealers price.

Most certainly in the GTA .
Ottawa area has fewer dealerships , so choices are fewer. But it would not hurt to enquire.
Some GTA dealers offer quotes over the phone while most dont. Try Atrell Toyota, Brampton.
Most desis prefer Honda cars
They also prefer Toyotas as do many of the other immigrant communities
for the reasons that :
They are perceived as better built cars with few issues.
Hold their value better than most other makes.
Easier to sell or trade.
There always is another cousin , uncle or desi friend who drives a Honda or a
Toyota !! This btw is the most compelling reason. Walk in to strip mall with
a desi grocery store and you will find the parking lot littered with Toyotas and
Hondas.
Price wise do not expect a deep discount on the Corolla or the Civic.
Margins are thin and cars sell quite easily and for the same reason , I would not bother spending money for
obtaining the invoice price. I did however
get a free quote from a car price negotiating company
called Transdeal, but the price was higher than what I negotiated.
My rule of thumb is to price it online, discount the price by 10 %
and start negotiating. You might arrive at a discount between
5 - 7 % depending on factors like dealer inventory,
options , time of the month etc. Make sure you decline
upfont a host of other services like
VIN etching, extended warranty and underbody rust protection.
Ask for few extras like free mats and oil changes.
I just bought a new car - 2010 Mazda 3.
This may be an obvious question but wouldnt it be better to research what car suits your needs/lifestyle etc than just what is a desi car??
After all we arent stepford wives !!!

FYI, I negotiated a 4k+ discount on my Honda because of the invoice price info (May'09).
Was that for a Honda Civic ?

How authentic is this price? The \"invoice price\" is a private , confidential
business transaction between the manufacturer and the dealer. Neither party has any reason to publish the numbers for public consumption . Also not
included in the \"invoice price\" is the manufacturer to dealer rebates which
are determined at the manufacturer's head office .
