Business point of view... The number of desi population will not be enough to sustain desi grocery store business and if the demand rises, soon walmart and no frills will start selling desi groceried too..

I think now a lot of desi students like me (mostly one year post-graduates) will come over to Halifax because of the 3 months PNP rule and rule change in Saskatchewan, which was a destination before. Could anybody please enlighten us with the chance of getting jobs in IT field or call centers after coming to Halifax, and the PNP opportunities followed? In the website they tell the job should be 'preferebly' in the field of study. But heard that any NOC 0, A, B jobs would make us eligible for the PNP.
And could any seniors please tell us if there are good chances of getting part-time jobs easily beacuse we need to get money while searching for good jobs.

(Regretting that Ontario was a wrong choice of study No money No hope!)

Starsup, please see my other posts on Halifax. I don't know the current rules/requirements for PR/PNP, but in Halifax there are essentially 2 companies that provide IT jobs. 1) Keane/Caritor 2)CGI

I am soon shifting to Halifax from singapore. I am with wife, two sons 8 year and 3 year, and mom 65 years.

We are punjabi.

Any suggestion on

1. Area to live (need help on this the most)
2. Schools for kids
3. Temple or gurdwara in Halifax

Any other tips to make life easier.

Not knowing your place of work, or the location, I will not venture into giving you any help in your seeking some Accomodation.

But that does not mean I cannot help you with the trends. You will need THREE Bed Room Apartment/house. 3 BR will set you back by a $1000. + Since the BEDFORD area is developing fast, I am sure that is where you will be working and need to find a place. These 3 BR apartments are very hard to come by. So, grab one, does not matter where it is, but close to work. This close to work part is because of the severe winters.

You have no problems with schools, your 8 year old can enter into Grade 3 easily.The other one into Jr.K.G. All of them are close and under a mile.

GURUDWARA is located at 10 Parkhill on PURCELLS COVE ROAD. I will give the details here and call them from Singapore and seek help. That will be the best that you should do... They will help you better.

Hi All,

I will be coming to Halifax for short duration, approximately for 3 months , i am looking for accommodation with Indian female roommate, i am very neat, tidy & easy going person.
I would be lot grateful if anyone could help me in finding accommodation.
