Will any one here know here how to be a CPA in US and what are the good books to be read for being a CPA....ones that have the most success rate....I have an MBA from US and want to pursue CPA and am in Canada now. What are the good web sites for CPAs???You can post it here or reply at
Thanks for all your efforts.
You can search on internet for books available for preparing for CPA. There are boks like Willeys and there are some agencies like CPA excel who provide online coaching for CPA. But,to my knowledge, the most success rate is for students who attend Becker's classes for CPA . They have 3 centres here- in Mississauga, Downtown and Scarborough. As you may know ,November 2003 was the last pen and paper exam for CPA. From May 2004, this is going to be a computer exam and there are some changes in the syllabus and timing of exams also. The best is to attend one of the information sessions that will be held by Becker's sometime in January/February (which are free). Phone number of Becker's is (416)289-0909.
I fullly endorse Vijay's opinion about Beckers classes. Having attended the same myself at this age, and having passed all four papers in one go (something which I could not dream of), I am of the opinion that if only passing the exam is your goal, go for Becker's classes.
However, if you want to learn and study the material for CPA exam, do not go for these classes. They themselves say that their motive is to make a student pass the exam - and he/should concentrate only on that - no ifs and buts and logics. You have to blindly follow what they ask you to do - try applying your own logic, and you might go astray!

You may visit http://www.nasba.org" rel="nofollow">LINK to get information about the steps on how to apply for exams for each state. I believe once computer assisted exams are successful in US, then they are planning to conduct exams outside USA also. I remeber reading suggestion on http://www.aicpa.org" rel="nofollow">LINK sometime back.
