Off late I have been noticing that members post a link to a news article without any comments or own opinion. I do not know what that means? Because I can read the article on my own in any case. Does the poster have opinion of his own? Or is it just an enthusiasm : " look what I found!!!!" I would appreciate if the poster posts his / her own views on the article and may be a fruitful discussion takes place on that.

I fully agree with the OP.
It is highly irritating to see links in which we donot even find interesting.
Some of them are :
1. Snow is coming to Toronto
2. Toronto cops are overweight etc.. etc.

But recent meaningful news such as Zacardeli's resignation and Sheila's cancer donot figure in CD which to me sounds like good info. for meaningful discussion.

I'm with you guys on this. However, this is not something that's easily enforced. Its something where it would be nice for members to exercise some judgement and discretion, because an article worth posting vs. a useless article is a matter of perception.

The goal is to stay away from such articles unless there's something that really useful or relevant to the majority.

Absolutely, the idea is for us to have original content on CD, not hyperlinks.

At this point, I would simply request members to exercise restraint while posting news articles. If we find that this is not working, then something more drastic will need to be done.
