Yes . Stay away from Alberta if you are low wage earners.
Recent graduates with two year Diploma from SAIT , job are offered in the 1st year itself and after graduation job offers are coming to them from 60K to 100K. Not bad for two year diploma holders in Alberta
For new immigrants I think it is better to be in Alberta and get a job and canadian experience in ones own field rather than to struggle with menial jobs in Toronto
After u have done ur time there is no stopping u from moving else where..
My verdict move to Alberta for 2 years get CAD exp and then move to Toronto or elsewhere..
I agree with others who says Alberta is place for new immigrants.
You will hardly finf jobs in GTA. I am talking about Highly skilled jobs like engineers, technical.
Ya if you r happy with odd jobs, factory jobs, Tim & KFC jobs then Toronto is better.
But if want to wrok in ur field, Alberta is the place.
May be life is not so good in Alberta ( if u already stayed in GTA), but who cares if money is good, you are getting experience in own field.
After some years u can always go back to Toronto
But be aware at present Alberta is getting costly
All
Facts about Alberta cities:
Edmonton & Calgary :
8 months of winter , rest 4 months is construction
one bed aptt rent ( old building ) : starts 1000 $ + utilities
Health Insurance : Pay from your pocket
Cost to buy house :
2 bed Aptt ( At least 30 years old ) : Starts from 2,75,000 $
Townhouse : Starts from 3,25,000 ( again 30 year old)
Independent House : Starts from 5,00,000 ( new or old , does not matter , first five years of your payemnt is interest u'll pay , no matter how much down payment u make, bank won't let you crack in pay ur capital amount)
Real Estate Mafia is drooling all over the province befooling people to buy as property may appreciate in future. People are paying through their bleeding nose for their so called dream home, unaware that they are actually working for house, paying the price to live in Alberta.
Calgary, surrounded by red indians ( cowboys ) , most people have racist attitude towards desi's. They are even racist to canadians, they consider themselves owners of place and honk horn seeing non-red indian.
Edmonton, traffic is a big mess, this city never was made to adjust this much of traffic, there is construction going all over the city in summer and in winters, its hell of place. Vitamin D is negligible in this city, kids can't go out and play for 8 - 9 months in a year.
Boom word is fading and Boom in Alberta refers to only Oil related jobs and is no where a concern for people from streams like IT, Accounts, Teaching, Pharma, vets , Doc's , Dentists etc.
Folks, decide your priorities and make decesion considering all aspects, this country has a tax system where one is in NO WIN situation.
Please share our experiences and awake people to have a better living here.
Thanks
