Edmonton seems to be good right now, because complete oil economy is booming. But nobody tells what is real story.
If there is fire in a small part of any refinery - many projects stop and this leads to loosing of jobs of many-2 people.
Is it good to be in a city which is totally depending on just one product Oil or in a city which has jobs in many areas.
If economy crashes, it will be so fast and rapid. It has happend twice in Albeta's history.
I would request CDs to specifically compare Alberta with BC. I am aware of the difference in weather conditions. But need to know about opportunities.
From the previous posts, I understand that housing in costly in both the provinces and so is the gas.
I am actively thinking of moving to Edmonton. My family comprises of myself, wife and a 2 year old kid. I have Indian qualifications and experience in Finance and Corporate Law.
I am considering taking up some related course in Canada. So wish to know whether to join the course in Vancouver itself and look for a long term settlement in BC itself or move to Alberta and take up the course there and then look for a good job.
I dont intend to buy property for next three years. I guess, nor will I be able to (considering the booming prices of houses in BC and AB). So, the aim is to first save some money.
Any information / guidance / remarks are welcome.
Thanks
