There have been a lot of post/discussions about which cell fone company is the best, to sign or not to sign a contract, etc.

Here's a link to an article in the Toronto Star of June 2, 2007.

Bottom Line: Most cellular providers have a cancellation clause (for long term contracts), which is $20 / month (for the # of months remaining, subject to a maximum ceiling of $400). Telus dos not not have a ceiling limit. The article also talks about the exerience of a customer in GTA with regards to the quality of the signal, and the options suggested by Telus.

Thanks Sudeshji,

Thats quite an eye opener for many CDs on this site. As far as my experience talking to sales rep for Rogers / Fido goes, they mentioned that penalty is usually the discount you enjoyed on the plan, compared with a monthly plan. He gave me an example saying that you selected a plan which was valued at $35.00 / month on month to month billing and you enjoyed $15.00 / month saving by signing a 2 year contract, then if you cancel the contract after 10 months, the penalty is usually $15.00 x 10 = $150.00 plus applicable taxes - AND - the full cost of the instrument as on date of purchase, less the discount received for it. But I assumed it was more complex than he explained when we actually executed the cancellation - hence never signed a contract till date. Am I glad????:)

Hiren
