Hi Canadian DESI fellows,
I am hired by two well known indury. 1st Telus(WELL CELL PHONE COMPANY IN CANADA) 2nd TTC(Toronto Transit Commission). So, now I just started my training at Telus a week ago and TTC call me to start training in this month after 2weeks. My job descritiptions are given below.
Telus, I will be working in a call centre and resolving clients cell phone issues, where I will be handling all types of call and I will get paid lets say well beyond my expectation..so its a gud pay. Benefits are excellent, Its a union environment, so no loosing a job easily. But downside I will have to be on the call all day long..the timing are OK not bad at all.
Now, TTC..I will be driving bus, i will get paid umm $2 less than Telus but I will not have to deal with lots of customers, i mean its just driving but the shifts will vary..like 4hrs in d morning and 4hrs in d evening. And in the winter it will be little hard. The reason I like TTC because i will be working on my own but on Telus, since its call centre..my managers will be on my back all the time. Telus has opportunities to move to different position after few years (thats what i think)..TTC not sure if i wll be able to move to different position. Both jobs are good and excellent pay...and i just don't know, which 1 to chose..plz can any1 help me..thx
and Yeah, Telus is just like 15mins from my house..where in TTC..its around 30-45mins and also I heard sometimes they give u different routes in just one day. And i have done similar jobs as Telus before and I kinda did not like taking calls but the reason I like to stay in telus because Telus might have an opportunity to grow.
Thank You for your time,
Also, Let me know you or anyone you know EXPERIENCE working with TELUS or TTC.
My Tenant is working with Telus and is extremely happy with the environment and pay e.t.c. Its a inbound call center so I guess you should not be worried too much about it . If you wanna speak to the guy directly pls lemme know I can arrange your meeting with him ..
Best of luck
Ashwani

Growing Old Is Mandatory ..Growing UP is Optional
Depends on what you need out of Canada.
TTC may give you a routine which may be considered peaceful but you should also be aware that Drivers are routinely being abused by some passengers. After 6 months of 1 year on the job, you can move to Mississauga transit / Brampton Transit which offers competitive pay. I have a friends friend who is paid $29 per hour. He had previously worked for Brampton tranist for 2 years. Driving the Bus in the winter is not that condusive to the body or mind.
In Telus, you can climb up the ladder once you befriend your manager / through hard work. Customer service experience can take you to greater heights / chance for more advancement in your career after experience in telus.
If I were in your position, I would take Telus.
To be more cautious, is it possible for you to do both the jobs for some time and depending upon your interest, then throw away the one that you donot like?
Hope this helps
Peace

I am a Gents and not a Ladies.
I wish i can do try out one job before taking one of them but I can not..I was out of job for a year and when I finally got the job, i get them both together. Now, I know with telus I can climb up but I am not good at sucking up to manager, u know what I mean so sometimes I feel like Telus might not be good choice for me..
