Hi. I will be moving to guelph very soon and don't know anything about the area.

Can anyone living there please tell me where NOT to live? I am a single female so safety is a huge priority. I've heard bad things about Guelph and drugs and am somewhat concerned.

I will be looking for apartments. Any recommendations? I am looking for a bachelor or 1bedroom apartment (for <$800/month).

I don't want to commute but I will if necessary. Should I be looking in nearby towns? Any recommendations?

Rati, although I have never been to Guelph personally, here's my advise to you. I would recommend you to go and visit the place before moving there. Go to any mall or store in the area where you're moving and ask the people or store-owners. Conduct a detailed survey about the place as if it's your full time job. This would also confirm how far the hospitals, stores, malls, transit are where you're about to move. I personally believe that visiting the place provides you so many aspects and where the amenities are.

I believe you might have either got a job there or an admission to University of Guelph. In either cases, making a personal visit few times would be a good option. Talk to people there.

Are you going to buy a house in Guelph? If I am not wrong you mentioned 'real estate listings'?
