A quick question about green card.
My ex-boss is a UK citizen of Indian/Kenyan origin (W/ British Passport) with green card of USA and having work permit to work in India (for an Indian company). He has been living in USA for the past 10 years. He is in India for 2 years and he generally takes vacation of 1 month for every 5 months worked and stays in USA during that period. His family is in USA.
So during the last 2 years he stayed in India for 21 months and in USA for 3 months. He has resigned now and has gone back to USA.
This is the background about him.
Am I missing something. How can he retain his green card when he has been away from USA for the more than 21 months in the last 2 years?
Any thoughts?

-- You can get a returning resident permit from USCIS that is valid for 2 years.
