I am going to move to a condo apartment soon. I was told by Bell sympatico that the speed will be less in that apartment complex as compared to a house. Is Rogers better in the apartment scenario (thru cable??)? Some say that there is some sort of security issue with Rogers. Any suggestions?

does your browsing habbits include heavy "download" and "upload" in terms of GB's per day, if not you might hardly see any difference, also when I moved bell gave a discount , they took off one month's bill ~$47

I believe we had a discussion on this borad sometime ago regarding the speeds in Bell Sympatico High speed and Rogers. Maybe you can search for that thread.

I have been using rogers ultra lite for over a year and have no issues what so ever. Maybe it is slightly slower for downloading videos, but otherwise, its just fine. On the other hand, I have a neighbour who has bell sympatico, but is hardly able to use it...when needed.

Check the rates and then decide. Important is how far your node is from the Bell local hub (I dont recall the technical name for it) to know the true speed.

All the best.

Both are different technologies... Bell's is DSL. Personally, I don't like DSL; so keeping with Rogers. I would love to move to Cogeco, but it's not available in my area. May be you have it as a choice - some of my friends having Cogeco are pretty happy.

You can google for the difference between the two tech. Main issue with DSL is, farther you are from their hub, lower the speed.

i have bell sympatico hi-speed and always get fast connection .. my neighbors with rogers complain of intermittment fast, then slow service, then no service. i know that i see the intek communications truck in our neighborhood quite a bit to provide servicing to rogers clients.

If you have a landline (not VOIP) phone, try TekSavvy for high speed. They are a DSL provider based out of Chatham, ON. Very good service and no bandwidth shaping. I pay $32.00 (tax included) for a 5MBps service.

It's a much better and cheaper alternative than Bell.
