Hi
My work involves sitting in front of the computer all day, which has resulted in my belly getting a "tire", along with back and arm pain.
I consulted my doctor who recommended at least 30 min workout/brisk walk etc., but due to the temp outside, going out for a walk is not a viable option for me now.
Therefore, I have decided to buy an exercise bike, so that I can at least work out from home.
Is an exc bike good for cardio and reducing flab in the belly? Anybody who can relate their experience, and also which is the best store to buy one?

Thanks

Same problem here. Get a gym membership. This is my recommendation. And also get a few lessons with a personal trainer. This shall motivate you to go to the gym and also give some much needed guidance for proper routine. Check if you company has ties ups with gyms and offer memberships on discount.

my advice is better to buy a treadmill, an affordable one instead of the bike - you will feel more energetic on a treadmill than a bike and also that will help u lose all the extra carbs- good luck

My $50 dollar worth of advice:

Join a gym. Dont hire a trainer. Read this book:

The abs diet : the six-week plan to flatten your stomach and keep you lean for life /

I developed better 6 pack abs than SRK using the above book; unfortunately still waiting for some Bollywood offers...................

Well, my problem is that although I do get a preferred rate for gym membership, right now I am looking for something in-house due to other constraints. Exc bike came to my mind because it occupies less space as compared to a treadmill, etc.
Any idea where to shop for fitness equipments/fitness stores in GTA which offers bargain prices?

Thanks

Can you obtain a folding treadmill? I think you will get a better cardio workout with that or an elliptical trainer than a stationary bike.

Regarding back and arm pain. Can you get an ergonomic assessment of your workstation done ?? Do you have a good ergo chair? can you get your keyboard lowered or raised .. etc?

If not: you could be doing permanent damage to the nerves in your arm..or get carpel tunnel sydrome or other such thing. if your employer does not help you make the necessary ergo nomic changes.. you may wish to consult the WCB in your province to determine if they can help.
