However, I think Hollywood has a purpose in producing 2012.

The purpose is simple - to keep alive the idea of God(s), mystery, and to make like reality is magical.

Reality itself is pretty boring so to spruce it up, one makes imaginary scenarios to make like reality can do other than what it actually can do. Reality acts according to its nature - and only according to its nature.

By portraying that reality is more than what it is, (that A is not A) implies that there is a \"force\", \"something\" making such monumental activity.

2012 is simply to protect the idea of a god, God(s) of which ever kind you may imagine.

That, I believe is the purpose of such movies.

It will be our 15th wedding anniversary then !!! wot a smashing co-incidence !!!

Carl Sagan would always quote from the Mayans and Hindus- and he favored the Hindu sayings.
On Friday Nov 13, I heard David Suzuki talk in Mississauga and he gave his doomsday scenario that we are in the 59th minute of a 60 minute cycle.
I wanted to ask him how long the minute lasted but didn't get a chance.

O man, I will miss Boxing day sale then. That totally sucks.

I dont like doomsday movies like 2012. They are depressing. However they do remind us of the fierce power of nature and how we humans like to live our lives believing we have total control over our environment and everything.
