It is better to spend a little money and call in a licensed Pest Control team. Also, minimize the amount of food leftovers thrown around the room, stop eating in the hall before your TV and keep the kitchen clean as possible.
Remember to cover your waste bin.

I had once tried the sticky bait roach trap which had to be folded like a board house and upon placing the provided bait , lots of cockroach were found stuck . I hope they should be having them in some departmental stores .... They were cheap and effective .
