Hi,

My new job is in Scarborough just next to Town center.
My apartment is near Bramely City center in Brampton and i still have 1 year left on it.

Currently i am using 401 for daily commute and its killing me, i generaly start around 8:00 AM in morning and in evening i head back around 4:00 PM.

My job gives me flexibily on my working hours.
I can pick between 7 to 9 AM for starting my job, please advise what will be best time to commute so that i can beat traffic on 401.

Thanks in advance.

The only stretch on the east bound 401 during the morning hour which is slow is between Hwy 400 to Yonge. Try to pass that section before 7.00 am, I think you should be OK.

Your are actually lucky since you will be travelling in the opposite direction the 401 rush hour during both morning and evening.

You also have the option to use the 407 ETR if you can afford.

Finally, nothing beats the option better than to move to scarborough - try to sublease the apartment or assign it to another willing leasor for some discount from your end - maybe offering to pay 1~2 months rent to the new occupant will save you more than the trouble of driving everyday.

Good luck in your new job.

Hiren

thanks a lot hchheda for your reply.

Actualy its not morning which is bothering me but its the evening commute.
In morning on average it takes me around 50 minutes but in evening (around 4:30), it takes me around 70-90 minutes.

Let me rephrase my question:

What time in evenings (after 4) is best time to travel, so i can avoid heavy traffic.

umm....8:00 pm?
Seriously, look into tele-commute options or temporarily moving to that area.
If not, 407 ETR is your next best option - I feel the toll is worth the comfort.
It may or may not make your commute time shorter, but the driving conditions will be a lot better and a lot safer.

I am surprised. I take 401 west after 5 PM from DVP and it is flying if there are no obstructions.

Do you take 410 to reach Bramlea city centre? 401 west bound past Dixie and 410 north are major bottleneck

I agree with Pratick. Few bucks spent on 407 is worth the mental comfort and peace. If your car has cruise control, you can choose a lane to drive and enjoy your ride in company of Shalini or Moin Jamal :p :D

If thats the case then one can try to hop on to 407 @ 400 or @ 427.
