I would suggest you to contact a mortgage professional and he will be able to show you that with the new 30 & 35 year amortizations house affordability has increased and you can go in for a house in Mississauga Area while your monthly commitment may not increase significantly.

Brampton is 152 year old city which is growing at a tremendous pace. Learning from Mississauga's mistakes (in Mayor Hazel McCallion's own admission), at the initiative of Brampton's Mayor Susan Fennell, the City Council has voted to slow down the growth of residential construction by 500 homes per year. Though this number may seem small, it is nevertheless significant enough to signal that the City is trying to ensure that it allows the growth at a speed that it can manage. Loblaws and Rogers have recently chosen Brampton to be their headquarters, besides lots of other well known companies (Chrysler, Magna, HBC, Canadian Tire etc) who have set up their establishments here and contribute to Brampton’s economic growth.
If you have visited the city lately, you would have experienced delays owing to road widening projects, which when completed will offer smoother traffic flow. This City also got its 3rd GO train station last year (Mount Pleasant at Bovaird/Creditview) and is working towards Acceleride for next year (5-minute interval Transit service on Hurontario from Mayfield to link with Mississauga) and on Queen St to connect to North York. City has seen influx of new modern (low..handicap friendly) busses and construction is well under way for the expansion of Hwy 410 to Sandalwood and then later to Mayfield.
City is also known as FLOWER TOWN and has a network of trails and parks for nature lovers, joggers and cyclists. It is said that once you start your walk at a park on Hwy 10 / Steeles, you would be able to reach the near end of Brampton (Bovaird) just walking or cycling without setting your foot again on any of the city roads. Check these: http://www.brampton.ca/parks&rec/trails.tml , http://www.brampton.ca/parks&rec/memberships/home.tml.

There are few well known lakes in the city: Professor’s Lake (Bramalea/Boavird), Heart Lake (Sandalwood/Heart Lake), Loafer’s Lake (Kennedy/Sandalwood)
It is true that property taxes in Brampton are higher compared to any of its neighbours; however, the city does offer more services and programs to its residents. The city holds fireworks 4 times (3 from this year to save money) a year on Canada Day, Victoria Day and New Year’s eve and residents from neighbouring cities come to see these every year. Kids really love day long fun festivals Wing Ding Ching in the winter (Next year on Feb 4, 2007) and Nitty Gritty Brama Wing Ding in the summer (this year on August 7), both for free at Chinguacousy Park (Bramalea/Queen St E). Chinguacousy Park also has a pond with Geese, Loons and ducks, slides, tennis, baseball, beautiful greenhouse, a petting zoo to enjoy everyday and small skiing mountain that is loved by the kids in winter (http://www.brampton.ca/parks&rec/mountching/home.tml). In winters, kids and adults can skate in picturesque GAGE PARK on a track around a Gazebo in the heart of Brampton Downtown facing the City Hall. Also, a day long fun festival of water events (diving, motorboats, surfing, water skiing etc) is held at the Professor’s Lake. Check out more cultural events at: http://www.brampton.ca/parks&rec/catalogue/specevents.tml.
For the lovers of Theatre & Music, the city actors offer free open air plays at City Hall Park in the summer for a few weeks every year. Rest of the year you can enjoy the theatre at the Heritage Theatre http://www.brampton.ca/theatre/home.taf and soon at the state of the art ROSE THEATRE.
There are probably more strip malls in Brampton than perhaps any of the neighbouring cities. There are 2 major malls here (Shoppers World and Bramalea City Centre) besides box stores commercial area at Trinity Commons Mall. Rutherford Rd. is a hub of Automotive repairs stores. Kennedy St offers several Indian Restaurants and other South Asian stores (Jewellery, clothing, videos, electronics, groceries etc). Last week Loblaws opened its Canadian SUPERSTORE at Steeles/Hwy 10 (opp. Shopper's World).
IF YOU ARE NOT DOING MUCH THIS WEEK, CHECK THIS LINK for fun filled events at the GAGE PARK and other areas: http://www.northpeel.com/br/news/story/3587318p-4146075c.html

I would like to mentions 2 things ( negative points about Brampton) as everyone already mentioned positive points about the city.
1. Brampton is not very well connected to other parts of GTA by means of freeways. There is only one freeway i.e. 410 and it is always jam during rush hours. So if you live in Brampton and work in Toronto… May God help you. 407 is too expensive to use on daily basis.
2. Last week I read a news article in the Star, in that article Brampton was mentioned as "Number One Drug Trafficking City of North America"

Tell me the name of another city that is well connected to several freeways that are accessible from each and every part of the city within minutes. Mississauga only has 407, 401 and QEW that all run East/West. 403 is just a feeder HWY to 401 which is ALWAYS jammed, even at night! 407 is a necessity if you live west end of Mississauga and have to commute to East-end of the City.
Traffic jams are not just there for Bramptonians. Good thing is that feeder 410 runs North/South and covers the width of Brampton making almost every end of Brampton accessible to highway within a short distance.

This was not an article but a piece of news from the US where the customs officer said that since the Truck was registered in Brampton, Ontario, which was known to be on the drugs distribution network, he searched the truck and found drugs. And of the two men arrested (both Indian origin), one was resident of Brampton and other Mississauga. Incidently, the owner of the truck (also Indian) was unaware that his truck was impounded by US customs and that his employees were involved in drug-trade.
You seem to be generalising (on the basis of this piece of news) by which count, it also means that all Indians are drug dealers or all (Indian) residents of Brampton and Mississauga are drug dealers!! If what the US Customs official said was really "well known" fact, then one would assume that all honest transport company owners would be soon be moving to another cities.
