Greetings,

Has anyone done PIO cards for their kids anytime recently?
How long is it taking these days?
And is the process fairly smooth or are there hassles like in the case of OCI?
Any gotchas or things to watch out for?

Please share your experience.

Thanks

cgitoronto.ca says 15 days. I believe the forms do not go to India like OCI, so it should not take too much time.

If you mail in the forms, you have to attach original along with copies. Use something with tracking like Xpresspost for example.

If you go personally, then go with assumption that Indian consultate does not have a copier machine nor they carry any stationery items. Children who cannot sign have to put their thumb impression on the forms. Photos need to be taken against a light coloured background.

Double check their requirements on the website and carry/mail everything they need with copies and prepaid envelope in which they will return the PIO card (if you want it mailed to you).

So it is possible to drop-off in person?
I thought they have stopped accepting in-person drop-ins.

To the best of my knowledge, only drop-ins for visa has been stopped for a while now (that does not affect PIO/OCI applicants).
