Just take CAD in cash and TC or draft. If u can wait for few days to get it cashed, draft should be ok.
If you are looking for the best conversion rates, send the money via money2india or similar service. You can send it to regular Indian rupee a/c - if you already have one - or to your relatives a/c. That way you won't have a hold on the amount as well.
If you are taking forex with you, taking CAD or USD don't make a difference. Both can easily be converted in India, but the conversion rate is real bad.
Thanks for the great info, I think I will just take CAD dollars in TC and cash and have it exchanged at the airport.
