This installs with your furnace and is a heat exchange system with outside air.

I can vouch for the heat recovery ventilator. In fact, I have been using it for seven years or so. The air quality inside the home stays fresh.

One can even receive rebate of upto $300 upon installing this system.

For rebates, rewards and grants visit http://condopundit.com/wordpress/?p=97

It may make sense for some people to invest in retrofit projects. As per 2009 budget, one can receive 15% tax deduction on an amount of max. $10,000 spend on home renovations. For more details look up the budget, hopefully it should pass today.

One of the low-cost options we use sometimes is to hang a couple of wet towels on hangers in bedrooms - preferably in front of the hot-air vent. Seems to work well. You could also get clothe's air-dry hanger for about $10 from CanadianTire or Walmart and air-dry your laundry on that in the bedroom at night - saves the bills on your dryer electricity consumption as well!

Temp is too much. Night temp should be 18 degrees and rest of the time should be 21-22. Try it and you will see the difference. Install a prog thermostat too so that you can program the temps.

+1

we've set temp @ 18 C during our sleep time and goes to 21 C before we wake wake up and goes back to 18 C during office hours and comes back to 21 C before we come back home. you can get thermostat for 50 bucks or so from CT or Home Depot.

yes 22 night time temp is too much.
you are under the blanket and house dosent need that much heating.
Max should be 18 and mininim should be 17, we have it at 17 at night and 22 during the day. Also helps gas bills.
