Hi,
I am working in Canada for the past 1.5 years on my workpermit. I applied for immigration to Buffalo office in 2008, Oct 10th with one year experience here. However, I haven't recieved any acknowledgement from them. When I checked about the bank draft at the bank, they have encashed it in 2008, Nov 15th. What can I do now ? is it possible to contact Buffalo office enquiring about it.

Get a letter of continued employment from your current employer. Try and renew your work permit before it falls due. With that letter about 75 days prior to the current expiry, apply to renew the work permit. That should keep you going here for some time. Can you do that? (Do not leave Canada)
Now you know that it does take time to go through the process of Immigrating into Canada. It could be up to TWO Long Years. First wait for the file number. You should get it with in the first six months. Then, after that you can fire away any questions at them. So, wait patiently till you hear from them. Can you do that?
Well if you can, you won't get any ants in your pants !
Be Patient. They just got a few extra bucks in the budget.

Sorry for the delay. Thank you Freddie for your reply & suggestions. I will try to renew my work permit and extend my staying here till I get my PR. Hope I will recieve my file no. soon.
