Recently I met one person who immigrated to Canada from Iran in January 2004. He was interviewed by the Canadian Immigration Officer in Dubai. He was asked following questions during the interview:

-Why do you immigrate to Canada and leave your country?
-Tell me about your self?
-what do you think about your field (biomed) in Canada?
- Do you have some references in Canada?
-Tell me shortly about biomedical engineering?
-What were your math courses in university?
-what do you study in differential equation?
-What do you know about Canada?
-What do you want to do in Canada and what is your goal there?
-What if you did not find your favorite job after 1 year in Canada?
-What do you know about pc and software?
-What’s visual basic about that you said you know something about it?

Following answer was given by a Doctor in response to the question “What if you did not find your favorite job after 1 year in Canada?”

“For survival I can happily deliver pizza or can do labor job too” and his application was rejected.

Thanks and regards.

Why are they asking a biomed person these questions?
Is a biomed engineer required to know the nuances of Visual Basic programming, or even what it is?

looks like the questions were asked just to fail him. Pretty tough questioning tho.

I am sure for indians it is a little more relaxed.

Good luck to all those who are waiting.

Except "happily" deliver pizzas or do labour job, what are the options? What will a person do if he does not get job in his field?
1. Go back to whichever country he came from.
2. Upgrade/study though not easy, costs money too, OSAP(?), require income to survive also, and then wait for course to finish and then apply for job.
3. Do whatever job is available!

May be they did want a practical answer like delivering pizza or doing labour job (happily???)!

By the way, did his answer include the word "happily"?
