Hi ,
I am in a work permit in Canada. I am planning to immigrate here ( cause I simply love this place and also of my freinds here ). Though I am not fully sure how to go ahead with it. On top of that I was taking the skilled immigration test that is there in this site ->
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.html

I can see that I am falling short of minimum points required for Canadian immigration. ( this too when I give full profienciency for my English language ). Are you aware of some good immigration consultant who can help me. I can see a lot of them in the sites , but then I see a lot of negative remarks about them also. In case anybody encountered a good immigration consultant can they please refer me. I am very eager to immigrate to Canada.

The following is in short my background ->

Working in IT field . total work experience 4 yrs of this 1 and half year in Canada. My work permit expires in Nov.

HI Anindya,

If you are not able to make 67 points then no immigration consultant could help you out but I think there is something wrong in your calculation as you have good amount of work experience +you have worked in Canada. Could you give breakdown of your points so that we can help you out?

Hi Sukhwinder ,

Thanks again. I was indeed worng while calculating my points. Now I can see I am safely crossing to 67 point deadline and is elegible for Canada immigration.

One last question though ( I think I am not bugging u too much :(( ) ->

I just came across one of the posts here where it was adviced we can apply for immigration from Buffalo. But one of my freinds was telling it is only possible when you have work permit valid for more than 6 months. My work permit is expiring on Nov 19'th ( that is less than 6 months). Can I still go ahead with applying from Buffalo or I have to go back to India and apply from there only.

hi there,

you can apply even if your permit is valid for less than 6 months. I've heard that people getting their application accepted with less than 3 months on their permit.

Actually official rule is

\"You must apply in your country of residence, your country of nationality or the country where you have been legally admitted for at least one year\"

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/offices/apply-where.html" target="_blank">http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/offices/apply-where.html</a>

My suggestion is to apply asap in your case and start preparing for IELTS because that's is a must nowadays and send it later once you are done with it.
