Under OCI checklist on CGI's website, item # 4 states: "Citizenship paper issued by the Canadian authorities [at the time of Oath ceremony] mentioning the exact date of acquiring the Canadian Citizenship by the applicant.
"
My wife got her Canadian citizenship way back in 1993 and at that time she never received this paper. All she got was her citizenship card.
Please advise if CGI will accept her application without that piece of paper?? What should we do??
strange how no one wants to respond and help. not surprised.
No one is answering because may be no one knows the answer. You best source is to contact CGI directly and get the answer rather than waiting an answer from people who might have not had their citizenship so long back. Hope this helps and don't be offended.
you need to check again on your end. If not then call cic and confirm with them
You get two documents when you take oath
1) citizenship certificate (wallet size plastic card that has the issue date/year/month), your name, height, eye color details etc.
2) a document that has your citizenship no. and the date when you took the oath i.e. acquired the citizenship.
