My oath letter did say "Please do not bring children under 6 years of age unless they are becoming Canadian citizen." Whether they will deny entry to children under 6 years not becoming Canadian citizens is questionable though.

Reading the above thread, my comments are as follows :
It is almost impossible that the test and the oath are in the same day. For one it assumes that all people who write the test will pass or that every one that has been called for a test will come. At the oath you will be handed your citizenship card and a commorative certificate and it is impossible that CIC will pre-prepare the citizenship card before you writing the test / coming to write the test as the citizenship card is numbered. So you might want to double check on that. I have heard first hand from some citizens that when they wrote their citizenship test some 20 years ago, they were told to wait while the test was being corrected and if you had happened to fail in the test, they would immediately call you into the correction area and ask you to correct the answer in your test. Oath comes afterwards (atleast a few weeks) after you are again checked for internal background checks.
Also it is very unlikely that your infant is allowed for the test as the test requires pin drop silence and even you need concentration to write the test.
Your best alternative would be to hire a nanny for one or 2 hours to come to the site and look after your infant (even if the nanny askes $100 an hour).
Again infants are allowed and encouraged in the oath process but the moment the child / infant cries / makes a scene during the Oath process, you will be asked to take the infant out and YOU CANOT ENTER IN AGAIN (atleast in Etobicoke) b'cos the door canot be opened from the outside.
So better have a nanny this time too or find a daycare for one day (Some people in CD classified oblige at a premium fee)
Hope this helps.

Peace

Just wanted to correct that - our citizenship cards were printed in March 08, while our test was in July 08.

IMO, they will have the cards and certificates ready, but wont hand it over if you fail the test+interview after the test (if needed). But the test itself is very simple and based on the statistical passing percentage, they might have decided to conduct both on the same date. If the number of applicants are too few, everything is possible on same day.

Good luck.

Hiren

Just follow the letters and take the opportunity without asking further. Take the test and follow as instructed in the letter. Find a baby sitter for the child to be safe. All the best.
