Hi. Me and my wife have our citizenship oath ceremony date set up in a week's time. We have a 1 year old daughter who has never been to day-care or stayed with baby-sitters.
Can anyone tell if we will be allowed to take her to the ceremony?

Yes, very much. You even have chance to click your family photo with the Judge after the ceremony. Only if the infant becomes restless and disturbs the proceedings, the parent is allowed to take it outside and wait in the lobby.

Good Luck and Congratulations on your Citizenship.

Hiren:cheers:

Thanks. Actually we have our test and oath the same day (that's if we pass the test ;) ).
And we were worried about where to leave our daughter in the mean time.
Anything else we should know about taking babies? Please let me know.

Just to give you heads up ... Test and Oath date will be around 3 months apart provided you pass the test ..
Seems to me that you are quite misinformed about the whole process

As a matter of fact here is what my online status shows:

"We sent you a notice on September 11, 2008 to your mailing address to appear and write the citizenship test on September 24, 2008 at 10:00 AM. The notice you will receive by mail will be your official confirmation of your appointment. If you have not received this notice prior to the date of your scheduled appointment, please contact us. If we have sent the letter to the wrong address, please contact us.

We sent you a notice on September 12, 2008 to your mailing address to appear and take the oath of citizenship at the citizenship ceremony to be held on September 24, 2008 at 1:30 PM. The notice you will receive by mail will be your official confirmation of your appointment. If you have not received this notice prior to the date of your scheduled appointment, please contact us. If we have sent the letter to the wrong address, please contact us. "

Also i have received two letters from CIC in the same envelope.

Do you still think I am mistaken? Please do let me know.

It's not surprising that the test and oath are at the same time....elections are around the corner. ;)
