Don't know if anyone's face this situation earlier, would much appreciate your help!

We are from Dubai, and had our passports stamped with the immigrant visa last month.

After the stamping, I had only one page vacant in my passport (all other pages are used), and I have business travel to the UK this month. When I applied for a UK visa, they advised that they could not stamp the present passport as there's just one page empty, and hence I would have to submit a fresh one.

I got a new passport from the Indian consulate here, and they have attached the old passport to the fresh one.

My worry is the canadian immigrant visa is stamped on my old passport, though it is attached to teh new one, and the landing paper too has the old passport details.

Will this be a problem with the authorities at the time of landing? The reason was genuine - There were no pages on the last passport, and I had to travel, hence the new passport for the visas.

Any feedback, friends?

Should be ok.
It is common practice to carry expired passports if they have valid visas stamped.

Hi, I am also from UAE, shall be doing my second and final move this August. It should not be a problem for doing your first landing as you hold the valid visa and you also hold your landing papers, if you are still uncomfortable; call Canadian Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Canadian consulate in Dubai and explain the status, see what they have to say as that is the most reliable source for answering this query.

Much relieved now to know that that the situation is not as grave.

Parth, have a question. You mention that you got a new booklet/passport - did this have the same number or a different number (as in the old passport).

Reason I ask is, the landing papers I have has the old passport's number mentioned on it.

Do you think I should notify CIC in London (that's where I got my papers/stamping from) of this change in passport, or do I let it be?

A new booklet will have a different number. This booklet will also carry a reference to the number of the old passport that will help you prove the linkages between the two booklets.

Don't worry about this situation, it is very common - at one stage I had 3 addtional booklets on the original passport. I had attached a little sticky note with the booklet page number for each valid visa - to save time while crossing passport control.
