Namaste to all :)

I am a Hospitality professional with a good experience (above 5 years) want to settle down in Canada with my Husband and a 2 yr baby girl.

From the canada govt website I have checked eligibility and I got 71 (Eligible), I will be primary applicant.

I have some Questions\ Queries in my mind and I want to share with you all and I really need your comments and suggestions.

1) Is it good to apply through Website on my OWN or I should hire some Consultant?

If consultant, please provide me contact information of some good consultant? As I live in Delhi (India). There are a lot of Consultants but I can not trust anybody. If anyone can provide me reference of some Good consultant who can provide me services with low cost, as I am from middle class family.

2) Which Canadian state I should try for? I have gone through Federal state program also but I really dont understand it.

3) I need assistance\ guidance to go step by step, Please help me with that.

Waiting for the reply.

Thanks & Happy networking!

You can't apply through the website - the website is only for information and printing forms.
You need to mail your application to the nearest CHC (in your case, New Delhi).
The choice between self and consultant is a personal choice - there are pros and cons of both.
Basically, if you can be diligent, pay attention to details, organize yourself well you can do everything on your own.
If you would rather have someone else take the pain away, make sure you pick a certified consultant who has a good track record.
There are many fly-by-night "consultants" that you should stay away from.
Do not for sure pick a consultant who doesn't have a legally registered office in Canada.
Also, do not overpay for this service and do not pay lump-sum up-front.
Work out a milestone based payment plan (application, interview, medicals and final approval).
I have no idea what the going rate is these days, but shop around.

Doesn't matter at this stage - you can pick any province (not state) other than Quebec.
But do some research based on your professional field and specify that province in your application.
You may be asked your settlement plan in case there is an interview.

pratickm, thank you so much for sharing important and consolidated information. I really appreciate it.

I wanted some professional to handle my case, so that I may not leave anything as I am not a professional. For that I have already researched a lot in my area and found nothing and that is why I said I can not trust any one. All consultant say they have references, and behave like they are giving canadian VISAS right from their offices and ask for big money.

We have some hard earned bugs which we cut from our bread and butter, Do not want to spoil it.

I am from HOSPITALITY and will try to find any good province in the HOTEL\ Restaurant field.

More comments are appreciated.

Please carefully read the following information provided by CIC -

When choosing a legal representative, please adhere to the guidelines above.

Tourism is popular primarily in Quebec, Ontario, British Columbia and partially Alberta.
The mid-west provinces are not that popular among tourists.
There are hospitality jobs in all provinces, I'm sure, but you are better off starting your research with the above provinces (except Quebec).

Please note how much ever you may be qualified or how much ever your experience is outside canada, it doesn't count in canada. People outside are unaware how tough it is for new immigrants in canada.People who are doctors and dentist and professional who can't practice without canadian degree come here and they drive taxi to survive. People who were earning lacs of Rs. in India come here and they do labour jobs lifting 50 lbs . People are unaware of the conditions and scenario in canada. It is really tough out here. I remember a airline staff came here leaving job of 25000/- pm four years back and he is labour getting $10 per hour. He did this for his children who now are grown up and the man is worried that he will get invitation like outsiders once they decide to marry. Is such big sacrifice worth it? We come here for children, but culture here is not like India, (look after old parents). Here children leave you once they are grown up. I think we made mistake since we didn't know about this situation. It really is tough during recession. No labour jobs in sight so how to survive? Imagine our frustrations, we left good white colllar job and business, our income was $10000 pm or even more.and since past 3 months we are sitting and applying till 3am and we got 3-4 telephonic interveiw and .....

on top of this, I am told winter is really bad here. last time it snowed upto 4 feet. One of our relative fell on snow and was bedridden with back problem for 6 months and afterwards also, she is still suffering back pain. Imagine yourself standing for bus in -40-50 deg and if you miss one bus and another bus in 20-30 minutes time and each minute will seem like one year. Inspite of wearing heavy clothes, fully covered people tell me your skin pricks and your hands and legs go numb inspite of gloves. Really scary isn't it. If you have car, then it is told you have accidents on ice and snow, even buses skid and slip and goes to another end. This way you have to live from Nov to March every year.

Is it really worth coming to such place and suffer so much that too for the sake of our children? After all health is wealth. Are our children asking us for such sacrifice?
