I am in USA on H-1 visa and I want to apply for Canadain immigration. The reason I want to do this is beacuse my current employer might not sponsor me for US green card. And in an unlikely case of losing my job, I want to have another option of being able to stay in/close to US and look for another job.
Canadian PR looks like the best option since this is so much faster than US PR. I went to the Canadian official immigration website, took the skilled labour category test and I score 71 points. I have two master's degrees, around 1 year experience in my current job.
I am quite sure that I can sucessfully apply myself. The only reason that I would want to pay someone else to do this for me is that I do not want any delays beacuse of careless errors and/or ignorance about the process.
Do you think it is worthwhile to hire someone or got through the process myself? Is it even worthwhile to apply for Canadian PR as an insurance if I am quite sure that if in maximum of two years I would definitely find an employer to sponsor me for US PR keeping in mind the cost of applying?
Any opinion will be highly appreciated.
Thanks for your time.
Go ahead and apply on your own. But make sure you have an address that is not going to chage for atleast next 2 years. Any changes in address and family status will delay the process atleast 3-6 months each time. No doubt, it is the best alternative for your GC process in US, but follow these little cautions while applying.
All the best!
Thanks Suryacan.
Any other suggestions, tips.....?
Just don't delay and don't neglect a single requirement as instructed in the latest form.
First impression is the best impression:
Presentation of your application is important - Submit all required documents for the FIRST time itself.
EASY:
Just go through the instructions and requirements part of the form untill you understand what you need to submit. These instructions are simple and easy to follow. Use your common sense and do the necessary. All family members should submit separate applications as the principal applicant with required fee and documents.
Better double check and make sure you met all the requirements before you submit the application and if not just don't do it.
Regards.
