Hi,

Well when we first came to Canada, some of our friends introduced us to this site. I would like to congragulate the people who are maintaining this site . Really great job and thanks for doing it.

Honestly, we both thought we were doomed our lawyer had made up this great dream of us getting jobs and having no problems. But after we landed we found that, it is not always the case. Anyways cutting the long story short my husband tried for a job first but did not get. I was five months pregnant at the time and I was afraid noone would be interested in hiring me. I had heard of this consulting company that offered training and made sure you got your certifications, so i applied for asp.net course and project. The course was well taught, they made us present project designs etc in front of the class. I got my MCP ofcourse I struggled day and night for it because I did not have work and the whole thing was costly. The counsellors helped me post my resume on Workopolis. I got a call 5 days later and I was offered a contract job but there was one catch I had to answer an online exam. I did it and I got the job. Soon after that I got another job which again is contract and I have two full time opportunties which I hope will work out for me. The MCP certification worked for me. I would just like to say that I was not fooled thank God. I worked really hard and by the way I am now expecting my baby anytime and hope to have a beautiful child.

I think you can call the counsellors and they would advice you on phone how to post your resume online etc. I attended several job shops and it never worked. I think the most important thing is that nothing is impossible if you pray and work.

Hi,

Its so nice that people have come forward 2 share their success stories as well for a change . I wonder how many of the people who make it big return back 2 post their expereinces on this site . But I am +ve , even if they do not they are there -- ppl who have found a part of thir dreams if not the \"pot @ the end of the rainbow\" .

I am an Oracle Cert DBA /Developer & Sun Cert Java Programmer having 4 years + expereince in Oracle (DB) & Developer 2000 . I have done my ICWA also 6 years back and intend 2 take on Oracle Financials /Oracle as a career in Canada .Currently working in the Mid East .What chances do I hold ??

In other words how s the Job Market 4 Oracle related products ??? I plan 2 spend at least 4- 5 months trying 2 get an industry relevant job trying 2 avoid labor jobs initially.

Regards

Manasvi

Manasvini,

You just cannt say that people are negative. I guess it is the experiences that make people negative or positive. I would say that what clicked for me was pure luck and also the fact that my skillsets were something that was in demand in Canada (By the way, I am an Accountant with a very strong focus on costing). I got a "permanent job in my own field"(I dont know what these words mean) within two weeks on coming to Canada with no help from anyone..never been to any of the so called agencies or support organisations..Right now, after three years, I changed three companies and currently works in a relatively senior position with a global company...and my salaries almost doubled in these three years.

To summerize, it is luck..luck ..and luck....

leke hari ka naam..come to Canada

Include me also in this group
With working experience in IT field in both USA and Canada my understanding is
(1)If you want a relaxed and peaceful life with a steady lifestyle Canada is best
(2)If you are confident about your capabilities want a quick career growth ,want to earn more money over a short period of time and ready to adjust with Economic and Job market fluctuation USA is better

My comment is mostly related to IT area only

Thanks
