I did not use my H1 at all so there were no issues.They want to see ties to Canada.

-- You do not need H1 (or any other work permit) to work for a US employer from Canada (if you are a cdn citizen or a PR of Canada).

now are days they are counting all the dates in/outs from Canada so you have to be very careful when filling the information.i was in same situation, i quitted job from US and now permanetly residing in Canada. Make sure you are meeting the residency requirments, 3 years in Canada out of last 4 years
