I have a job offer from Montreal and I am thinking of going for it. My family lives in Toronto. I plan to live alone in Montreal and visit the family once or twice in a month till the end of the academic year. I needed to have some clarifications
1. Once you are PR(from Ontario)is there a problem in working in Montreal?
2. Is the driving License from Ontario accepted in Quebec?
3. Will I be able to find furnished studio apartments/paying guest option in Montreal?
4.Is it possible to live in Montreal without knowing French?

I just move from Montreal to Toronto but i still have very good freind circle , just let me know where is your job ? if u have car or transit ? then i will ask my freinds to help you find place... Montrealers are very easy going ...so u will not have any issue...plus u dont need to find PG accomadation , u can easily find 1 BDR at 500$.(mostly everything is cheaper there)
As long as french is not required for your work place then u dont need to worry about french..still half of the ppls dont speak french there.
its better to take Quebec license, u will save money on licence fees as well as half insurance rate then toronto.
about visitng family : i used to travel every weekend to toronto before moving... usually take 6 hrs one way.
anyways, if u really get stuck or u need any help let me know... i hv lived there 10 yeras and know so many ppl who can help u
good luck

Thank you ftfl and blue_peafowl for the supportive replies. My job location is going to be in saint-laurent of Montreal. I plan to move there by January. I would really appreciate if you could give contacts of anyone you know over there to guide me in the initial days since I know no one in Montreal. Initially I will have to depend on public transport and eventually I plan to buy a car. ....Where you travelling to Toronto weekly by car or train?
I lived in my St Laurent condo (intersection St Louis and Marcel Laurin)
for 5 years before I moved out to Waterloo early last year.St Laurent is a very good place to live...everything is closed by ..property tax is little bit
higher as some of big the manf companies are there(Bombardier,Wyeth etc). You will be completely OK without French if you live any place around Montreal Island. You can PM me in case you need any other info in staying in St Laurent.
