The Manager is responsible for the overall management and direction of the Fund Administration and Reporting (FAR) activities for Canadian domiciled funds by performing analytical reviews on the FAR products such as financial statements and regulatory reports; maintaining working relationships with all FAR customers both internally and externally; ensuring that all FAR activities are carried out in accordance with department procedures and regulatory policies



Your responsibilities include:



Fund Ownership

Responsible for Canadian domiciled funds, evidenced by a thorough knowledge of those funds including; review responsibilities for areas such as, financial reporting, budgets, new product development, Board Material, tax schedules, and distributions
Manage and train the FAR staff to ensure accurate, timely and complete execution of FAR deliverables including liaising with the FAR production team
Work globally as a Management team, including liaising with NAV Calculation Team, Investment Operations, Fund Tax, Project Support Team, Fund Quality Assurance Review and Compliance Team and Portfolio Management, promoting consistent and best practices across the businesses and locations
Participate in the financial statement standardization process through identification and drafting of new disclosure requirements, documentation of required accounting policies, and coordinating and supporting internal and external audits, as applicable per jurisdiction.
Understand changes/evolution of the designated funds’ NAV’s, including NAV divergences by class (includes distribution divergences)
Work globally to standardize internal and external reporting, such as board materials, TERs, yields, regulatory reporting, and any other reporting we provide to our customers, as applicable per jurisdiction
Plan for business continuity events by supporting and participating in BC drills
Participate and/or lead special departmental projects

Customer Service


Provide quality customer service to all FAR customers by building strong business relationships, proactively servicing their needs, and managing “ad hoc” requests

Provide regular personal contact with FAR customers and build collaborative relationships with senior management, portfolio managers, service providers and trustees members
Manage customer expectations and tactfully deal with conflict

Staff Management & Development

Implement established goals and objectives for FAR
Responsible for staff development, which includes, ensuring adequate training, appropriate development, and providing management support and guidance to meet established objectives
Responsible for tracking and monitoring performance of staff and for managing the performance appraisal process
Provide overall planning and support by reviewing and developing procedures and by scheduling work within team
Establish, promote and maintain a productive, efficient and professional working environment
Promote a “Global Team” culture within Global Fund Accounting Department (GFAD) to leverage job knowledge and create and implement processes to promote consistency among GFAD locations



As the qualified candidate you possess:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business with coursework in intermediate and advanced accounting
Five or more years of financial accounting experience in mutual fund accounting or financial administration and reporting required
Advanced knowledge of investment business, including tax requirements, market practices, local regulatory environments, financial instruments, and GAAP accounting standards
At least 3 or more years of management experience
Must have experience with automated financial systems, including a general ledger
Accounting certification (CPA, CGA, CMA or CA) preferred.
ADDITIONAL

Graduate level courses in accounting or an advanced degree or certification in finance, accounting, or management preferred Experience in audit, taxation and statutory matters preferred
