Is there anyone out there who applied thru a Consulate/post outside India, but presently residing in India. And got passport stamped without traveling outside India.
After getting back the visa stamped in the passport back in India, has anyone traveled to Canada for landing? Did they face any issues/problems with Indian Immigration officer?
I am asking this 'cause, they check (the last arrival date on the passport) and (the visa stamp -place and date of issue),which will mismatch, so they will know the passport went out of the country without you traveling!
Indian passport clearly says that "Yon cannot send your passport out of any country BY MAIL"
but what if I send it along with "a known person/family member"
Also next thing it says " The passport should be with the holder or a PERSON AUTHORIZED BY THE HOLDER"
So if I send it with someone with a letter of Authority, it should be legally alright ?
Any input would be appreciated!
I applied for immigration while I was in London (U.K.). After medicals I had to go back to India. After about a couple of months on reaching India I got a letter at my Indian address asking me to submit the passport which I did by sending them by SpeedPost from India (since no reputable courier companies would knowingly accept Passports as courier packages - because of the liability they might have if somebody steals it). After a month or so, the Canadian Embasy in UK returned the passports back to me duly stamped, etc.
That's my experience. We moved to Toronto in October. No problems at the airport. I am not really sure if it's against the law as you mentioned since none of the courier companies I contacted expressly said so and also the Indian Govt owned post offices are accepting them ). Anyway that's my experience.

i am back
OOPS! I was lucky!
What kind of problem will it create, if I sent a notarized letter(lawyer) of authorityto carry my passport ?
As The Indian passport says clearly "The passport should be with the holder or a PERSON AUTHORIZED BY THE HOLDER"
What does that statement mean?
