Hi,
I applied for Canadian Immigration when I used to live in US. Now I have moved back to India (2 years now). I have since then taken my Medicals (Canadian Immigration) in India and submitted the letter of continuing employment from India (this is just to tell that I have kept Canadian Counsuate informed).
Recently I got request from Canadian Consulate that I must submit my passport to Canadian Consulate in LA (US).
Now my problem is that no courier company would allow me to send the passport out of India using their services. One courier company, DHL, told they can do it but they are requiring me to get an authorization letter from the Ministry Of External Affairs, India, that they authorize sending my passport out of India.
I visited my regional passport office (Bangalore) recently only to know that they don't have any such authorization process.
The other possible way to send the passport across was that if somebody is travelling to Us then they can take it with them and courier it to consulate in US, from within US. Now, nobody wants to take the risk of getting caught at the airport with a bunch of passports for very good reasons.
please tel me what to do in such a case. How do I get the Visa stamped in my passport.
I have stuck at such a crucial point with no direction right now, please help.
Regards,
Poonam
Suggetion 1
If the matter is important enough for you - make a trip to US and get it stamped yourself. If making a trip is not worth it, forget about getting Canadian immigration.
Suggetion 2
Go to Canadian embassy in India, talk to the officers there and show them the letter. Request them to
EITHER
accept your passports and either stamp the visa in India itself (I had done this - my application was from Singapore, but when the visa approval came, I used to live in Indonesia),
OR
send it to US on your behalf, since the embassy will have a right to send the passport out of the country.

Thanks a lot for your reply. Very much appreciated.

Poonam,
Some of my friends sent their passports to CHC, London from Middle East through ARAMEX http://www.aramex.com
ARAMEX opens local Post Box number in London in the name of the sender. When CHC sends stamped passports to local PO Box, ARAMEX collects stamped passports from post box and delivers them to the sender in middle east.
Aramex charges reasonably for this service but I guess there is no gaurantee that passports reach the sender.

Thanks a lot for this information erra, I would try that option. Hope these guys are not fussy like other carriers for carrying the passport.
Thanks,
Poonam
BTW erra, did the passports send by Aramex reach their destination (in London) in this case?
Thanks,
Poonam
Poonam,
I knew two cases. Both received their stamped passports through ARAMEX within a month.
I did not try that option. I sent passports to alternative CHC office in Abu-Dhabi through a friend.
