I wonder why Gujarati media/public is so indifferent about some non-Gujarati becoming a brand ambassador of their state. Why can't Amitabh be a brand ambassador of Maharashtra or UP? He does not live in Gujarat, cannot speak Gujarati or has anything to do with Gujarat. I wonder what are the ulterior motives of Amitabh and Modi.

Worse, when Malika Sarabhai tried to criticise Amitabh, most of the comments she received were negative. Even then, TOI decided to remove all the comments. If you click on read "all the 399 comments", it says "no comments". Seems like Amitabh's PR machine is working 24/7

Very funny coming from a person who despises Raj Thakre for promoting Marathi in Maharashtra...Not saying that it is wrong to have a Gujrati as brand ambassador of Gujarat...but just pointing out how the perspectives can suddenly change. Now all of a sudden Bacchan became non-Gujarati from a Indian national...?

Why is it so hard to comprehend a simple letter from Sarabhai. Whatever it is, clearly it's not about regionalism. You can't compare Raj Thakre's violent/goonda'ism with Mallika's logical letter. She is only questioning Amitabh's decision to endorse Gujrat, despite of many shortcomings within the State. She repeatedly mentioned 'Gujrati' because being from this State she is well versed of it's in-and-outs, good-and-bad. Of-course media and Gujrat Govt. only publicise about the silver lining and forget what lies beneath. This 'beneath' is what might have prompted Mallika to question AB's decision for his endorsement.

I agree with every word that she wrote. No industrialization and progress hides the bitter truth of Gujrat riots. Ever wonder why Hitler is still despised today even though Germany is one of the developed States? This fact alone should awake any individual who believes in non-violence in the heartland of Gandhi's Gujrat. Even one drop of blood and a single murder is worth condemning, and shouldn't be forgotten/forgiven. Nonetheless, we all know what happens in India where perpetrators of heinous crimes/riots are and will never be brought to justice, whether be it Sikh riots in Delhi, the ones in Bombay (Sorry, it's Bombay for me always), or that of Gujrat.

Moreover, I have long observed and devised that Amitabh has been behaving insanly (AB gone wild) since his comeback and does everything else but a good/deserving acting. Sorry, but I believe he was at his worst in Paa, Black, and all post-comeback flicks. This endorsement hit the last nail to his persona (which is nowhere found as it was in 70s, 80s).

About Modi? The less said the better.

My views are exactly same as Febpreet's. I do not despise Raj Thakre's for his ideals but for his methods. I do not mind him and his cronies promoting regionalism across Maharashtra. But when it comes to Bombay, I believe each and every community from India has something to contribute towards the progress of Bombay, starting from British who developed it from just a group of seven villages.

Also, I doubt that Modi's hands are clean. He has his efficient PR machinery at work too that might be making sure that any voice of opposition is "taken care" of.

The sole question is - How can Amitabh represent Gujarat? If they needed some Bollywood personality, they could have chosen Paresh Rawal, or worse, Himesh Reshamiya.

I have heard a lot about the methods and I too do not agree...but these are politicians and they need controversy to get famous. Moreover it is speculated that Raj Thakre is creation of Congress. He is not creating regionalism...he is opposing regionalism within Maharashtra. No Oppose to anyone just insistance to be roman while in Rome......Speak local language if you live there for generations (not visitors/tourists). Advertise the local rail jobs in local newspaper and not somewhere far north or south...nothing unusual....
But just wondering what other methods than the one that was used by MNS would have had so much impact so that they can bag prestigious seats from Mumbai in first year of creation of party?

Total BS.

If you accept that it is OK for her brother and sister to LIVE together(you know what I mean) then whatever she says is okay.

I don't know why people listen to this old lady who will flaunt all social rules/laws and ethics in her private life and attack someone who is doing something good.
