Hi,
Can any one give any reference or lead for good clearing agent in Toronto?
I have to get clear a 20Ft container and inland transportation within East Toronto.
Thanks in advance
Regards
You know where you are shipping it from. Contact the shipping agent at the starting point and ask them where "it is getting SHIPPED TO". It is at the destination Port that you will need a clearing Agent to clear your goods and also the Container to go with it. (If you want to take charge of the whole container. It is your choice.)
There is no shipping and no ships arrive here in TORONTO during the Winter months. But Halifax and Montreal Port does have Container terminals, that operate 24/7, as and when the container ships arrive. It is at those ports that you will need help. They will ask you for a One time POWER OF ATTORNEY, to clear such items and your bill of lading to collect the same for you.
Alternately, you can go there and present your bill of lading and clear the same at that PORT and collect the same and ship it by road to your destination. (Home). They will provide you a very short time (span) to clear and return the container. After which it will cost you demurrage charges. If you have road transportation ready there at that site, then you can get it loaded on to it, either "Loose" or "Bulk", depending upon if you palletized it or not.
Check all of these details first and expenses you will run into, prior to entrusting your clearance process to a clearing agent.
Freddie.
