I heard from my parents that Census in India has started
This is really going to be detail & somewhat complicated
While visiting home, census people will take photographs, signature of all eligible people
They will cross check your name on RationCard
Also they will take photograph of Property if your are owner
Not sure how this are going to affect us in Canada
We are in the process of Citizenship in Canada
So legally we are still Citizen of India
How that will affect us if we are Canadian Citizen ?
So if staff from Census visit our home in India,
what should our parents tell them about us ?
Should they say we are in India or should they declare that we are in Canada
If they say we are in Canada, will eventually we have to delete our name from RationCard?
How that will affect Taxes & other things in India
Specially if you own property as well as bank accounts in India
I really doubt if Indian Govt after few years will share those information with Canadian Govt, so that should not be an issue..
Any take on this ?
Being truthful always helps. Let them do their duty and you do your duty of being truthful.

Still You are citizen of India . You parents can say that you are working abroad & visiting India regularly . Govt. of India will not share any info with any other government , they promised that they will not share it with other department ( income tax ) .

>>>They never asked for ration card (and we dont have one). In the days of voter id, PAN card, etc. no one asks fo ration card, unless one is in village.

>>>Census in India has nothing to do with canada.

>>>Your doubt is correct.
