Most of you may not be aware that in India also the government has provisions of free healthcare, free hospitals, free schools, unemployment money and many similar social service programs. However majority of us dont ever usethem as they are overcrowded, low standard, poor quality and full of red tape beaureucrat and corruption ridden. But there are still hundreds of thousands of poor who use these and system is working somehow for them.
In India we have an option of buying these services at high quality and standard by paying to private companies engaged in these medical services, education and the like.
Similarily in Canada the government has provided social benefits and facilites to the residents in terms of insurance of medical care, hospitalization, education etc which are almost free for poor people or who earn below a certain tax bracket.
However if you are not satisfied with the system you cant buy these services outside privately in Canada. In education maybe but not in others.
As for old age pensions etc, this country has always been a destination for old American and British retirees. Local old people have to work hard for years in their youth to expect something in old age. And yet the rising rents force them into evictions and they even become homeless.
So if you think to a level of survival at edge and poverty infested life at any time pouncing on you this country is best. In India people at 60 dont slog in malls, or work for survival. They have family and there is a decent standard of age when a senior retires respectfully. Here money is everything and you find old people working till death.
You came to this forum to ask advice and seems you are a string advocate if immgration and have everything sorted up already. Iwould go further and say that all your posts seem coming right out of an immigration broker office, I wont be surprised if your post turns out to be sponsored.
In case you are genuine then please dont treat like you have the max expereince in living overseas in other countries. I have lived in 5 countries including US and UK. I informed you of facts about living here but people like you dont deserve as you will definately suffer and learn,
You should definately come here and spend your time, money, youth and labour. This country really need people like you.
(So the crux of the matter is :The migration process is a life changing or making decision. It cannot be taken easily. For eg. when people come from UP or Bihar to Mumbai)
->
I am loving it....... the comparison of migration from Bihar to Mumbai and from Mumbai to Toronto.
But also remember immigrant do not have much say/choice in all matters and end up living in ghettos whether its eight people sharing a shanty in Mumbai or rental condos with PG to support income in Toronto.
(only problem in the Canadian immigration system from my layman point of view is - that they are allowing people to go there just by showing funds. Elsewhere in the world, the immigration process is usually to work/study there and then apply for PR, in which case the settling down is easy and hasslefree. )
-> They need the money ....honey,
In PEI a province of Canada even non English/ French speaking people can migrate provided they make a CAD 20,000 refundable deposit.
and the lawyers, consultants and so many others also get paid.

This post is especially in response to tullyjs.
With due respects -
It is said that "attack is the best form of defence"...........
When you have no answer - discredit the person. Make everything the person says - questionable. Till I was supposedly asking the questions and requesting information, it was a comfort zone. The moment I start asking a few questions - I am a migration consultant - an alien enemy - just coming to this forum to spoil the balance blah...blah....blah....
This is precisely what racism or discrimination looks like.......you don't even bother to understand the opposite person....their views.....their backgrounds....their qualifications.......
You simply announce that this person is an enemy.......you are not part of this community (forum).......not one of us.......you don't know what we have been through......etc...etc...etc...
Frankly, I was extremely impressed by the sincerity with which the forum members contributed to each enquiry....going to the extent of providing links to websites and older posts.......
All I was doing was trying to genuinely understand the reason for so much negativity to the immigration process........There iswas never any underhand or sinister purpose to my posts.......I would have thought that a forum is a place for honest and frank debates and discussions between people........but I guess people are too involved in their "painful settling in"..........its too personal for them to be objective.......
Well, all I can say is that this is just reflective of your overall attitude in life.....
In the end, I shall still say thanks for all of you for taking time to respond and put forth your views........
thanks for your kind words and enligtenment of what one should do and not in Canada, even before coming here. Hope your teaching reaches the right people to be success in life - whatever that is.
Just to remind you when you say apply for jons before coming here or take on rent, legally its not possible till you are here registered in Social system. If you are applying without SIN and falsely showing that you are in Canada, you may not be able to work again here.Anyway I am a little more frustrated today after getting my two flat tyres changed for $300 . VIVA Canada.

Hey, thanks unitz, for the support.
I was quite gung ho when I joined the forum. It was/is reflective of the enthusiasm I feel at the prospect of migrating to Canada for good.
However, when the negativity is so strong and solid, its somewhat scary. In the sense, that, we are making this move with our eyes open. Moreover, we are taking our children alongwith us. For any rational adult, its a very big step. Uprooting and then setting root again in a foreign land.
Having lived abroad for many years, I would have thought, it would be like going to another western country.
It is therefore, very vexing for me, the reaction of the Indian community there. Nowhere, have I every seen such feedback.
Let me share with you guys (those who may be interested, and not think I am some SPY/TROUBLEMAKER), I lived in Singapore for a few years. The practice there was that IT consultants would put up their CV's on various websites like monster and jobsdb. Then they would go through various rounds of interview and if selected, the paperwork would be processed. They would arrive in Singapore on an EP and their family would get a DP (dependant pass). This I am sure must be common procedure for many countries. If the person liked it, after a few months/years, he would apply for a PR, which would be accepted/rejected.
Now, there were a few IT Consultants/resource guys, who would get a tourist visa, put up with friends/whoever. They would go around all agencies, handing out their CV's and making themselves known. Thereafter, they would return back to India. Most of these guys (if they were actually good), did manage to land themselves decent jobs and come to Singapore within a few months.
Frankly, I can understand a migration process as above. I can't understand why an immigrant would just pack his bags, take his belongings and migrate to a new land without a job in hand. Again, I am not criticising please.
I ofter give examples of Mumbai. If a person was to come from another state in the same country, he will find it impossible to land a decent job. He will have to go through a learning curve before he learns the local lingo, makes a network of some kind and finally lands a job.
So then, if one comes without a job, family in tow, currency rate differences are high, how long can such a person survive? Its impossible to find a job anywhere in the world like that. Local experience is a must. Which firm wants to "teach you" and "pay you".......so that you run away for a better job, once you have learnt the business? Isn't that what happens in a call centre? Too high turnover? They take anyone with even a little knowledge of English and some basic education?
No serious firm/organisation wants NEW people, who know nothing about their clients/country/sytstem. Eg. anywhere in the world, a doctor needs to re-qualify, to understand the dosages/brands/systems etc. So a doctor from India, would need to learn the system in say SIngapore, before he can actually practise. Which is why, the techies are always the lucky ones. Their lingo is the same worldwide. IT consultants will always find it easy.
The only viscious cycle I see in Canada, is that they don't even recognise it after you have re-qualified. But if they are meeting their requirements through local demand, why take outsiders? Wouldn't the comfort level be higher with your own people?
I think, that this is where the need-gap needs to be filled. The government seriously needs to identify the main/major areas/disciplines where they can/need people which they cannot fill from within. In other areas, they must do some job creation. Again, this is easier said than done and sounds bookish/academic.
There seems to be a serious need for some desis to get together, and set up some huge business, manpower intensive, in order to mobilise the unemployed desis rather than work for Tim Horton's.
Again, I am sure such and many more ideas have been floated on this forum many a times. But something needs to be done.
Set up a hypothesis, solve the problem.......
I am a layman, in the sense, that I talk from experience. There are a few people in this forum who have faced a lot of difficulties and tough times. There is no balm for their pains. However, there can always be a journey of introspection, and trying to look at things objectively.
I have seen such pain and longing only with those people, who migrated from Lahore/Punjab/Sind in Pakistan, to India during partition.
tulyjys.....this is not personal......I apologise, in any case.
