This is an election manifesto by DMK in Tamil Nadu. The ruling party AIADMK already has given free bicycles to all the +1 and +2 students in the state.

Chennai Free colour TVs, reservation for minorities and free power for weavers: these are some of the promises that the DMK has made to Tamil Nadu voters in its manifesto released on Wednesday.
The AIADMK government has implemented several populist schemes, and the DMK, its chief rival, doesn't want to be left behind.
The government has a free bicycle scheme for students, so the DMK promises to give colour TVs to all families in the state.
The DMK manifesto says pregnant women will get a monthly allowance of Rs 1000 for six months.
That's in reply to AIADMK giving cash awards of Rs 1,000 in villages and Rs 2,000 in Chennai for flood victims.
There is more on the gravy train.
The DMK says it will give free LPG stoves to poor families, arrange jobs for 3 lakh unemployed youth, provide good quality rice at Rs 2 per kg for the poor and ensure reservations for Muslims and Christians.
The manifesto was released by DMK chief M. Karunanidhi on Wednesday.

May be Harper could start off by giving free Honda Civics or Toyota Corollas to all landed immigrants at the port of entry. They could also provide every immigrant family with a round trip ticket to their country of origin every two years.
I've already noticed that the CCTB has gone up and the right of landing fees is going to be cut. In place of deporting Portugese and Tamils he could use this as a bait for his survival in a minority government.
Employment opportunities and offer letters for government jobs right at the port of entry, while your landing papers are stamped.

May be I'm dreaming too much, time to wake up and smell the roses!.
Wakey - Wakey !

Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....
"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"
I think at this rate , Tamil Nadu will be the only place where being a majority will be a disadvantage.. The minorities are making the best of the situation..
DMK has been a great player of this game ..
God Save India and Tamil Nadu..

It took 10 years for Ontario/Toronto to allot funds for a new subway- just a few kms. extension-Downsview to York Univ. It is going to take another 10 years for it to be operational.
After 36 years of wait, a new subway - Sheppard line was opened.
After 20 years of wait, the harbourfront reconstruction has just started at Don Mills.
Man, this country deos not have huge money to spend on infrastructure...
unlike India where Billions and billions are allotted and being spent to improve infrastructure, eg..Delhi Metro- 5 lines came up within a record period of time.
India is a giant economy.
Canada is becoming a ant in front of India, an Elephant when it comes to Funds available to spend.

Ok. Now you need to decide. What you want ? You want Civics or Corollas or something still big ? .. or you need gold bricks paved roads ? or beer in taps ? or milk and honey in our rivers ? Or better health care services, good economy, better job prospectives ?
