Please take 2 minutes to look at this. We all have such machines in our offices.

Some lessons learnt here...........

Most employees think that there are very few hazards in an office environment, WRONG! there are many, the normal Paper Shredder been one that we find in the majority our offices today. Please understand and be aware that this is an extremely dangerous piece of equipment that can cause serious injury to a person’s fingers if people operating it do not understand the hazards associated with it. Below is a lessons learnt accident involving a paper shredder.

Paper Shredder Accident

· Accidents can occurs everywhere, even at the office;

· The picture below is of a hand that accidentally got caught inside an office paper shredder;

· The person tried to take out the paper that was stuck in the shredder and her fingers were caught and pulled inside.

Lesson Learnt (Please share this with our employees so that one of them does not have to go through the same pain and suffering).

· Be aware and be cautious when performing any job – even simple tasks like shredding paper;

· Never try to clean or dislodge paper jams whilst a shredder is still running or energized.

· Always de-energize the machine (unplug it, etc) before attempting any maintenance, cleaning or paper retrieval activities;

· Even if de-energized still ensure to keep any body parts well clear of any sharp edges or nip points;

· If there’s any doubt or uncertainty in successfully executing any of the above mentioned tasks, refer the task to the maintenance department.

Im not a doctor nor a medical professional however I do work for the worker's compensation system.

The dangers of paper shredders cannot be stated enough however the picture doesnt look 'real'.

A person whose fingers were to be caught would have them mutilated beyond recognition not line cuts. They also wouldnt be horizontal on fingers Think about it - do you shove papers into the shredder with your hand turned sideways?

the posting is to create an awareness and tell people to be careful. take it in positive sense. This is posted because, I met one pakistani guy who was returning to pakistan since, his hand got cut while he was working on the machine and though they joined his hands and looks normal but it cannot be normal and he won't be able to work with his hand that too right hand in future. He has 2 small childred aged 3 and 1 years. He is getting work injury compensation but what is the use? he has to drive his car one handed and he cannot lift anything since we require 2 hands intact since God has given 2 hands with a purpose.He has left canada for good.

Sad but nice story with a Moral.

A story is told about a soldier who was finally coming home after having fought in Vietnam. He called his parents from San Francisco. "Mom and Dad, I'm coming home, but I've a favor to ask. I have a friend I'd like to bring home with me." "Sure," they replied, "we'd love to meet him." "There's something you should know," the son continued, "he was hurt pretty badly in the fighting. He stepped on a land mind and lost an arm and a leg. He has nowhere else to go, and I want him to come live with us." "I'm sorry to hear that, son. Maybe we can help him find somewhere to live." "No, Mom and Dad, I want him to live with us." "Son," said the father, "you don't know what you're asking. Someone with such a handicap would be a terrible burden on us. We have our own lives to live, and we can't let something like this interfere with our lives. I think you should just come home and forget about this guy. He'll find a way to live on his own." At that point, the son hung up the phone. The parents heard nothing more from him. A few days later, however, they received a call from the San Francisco police. Their son had died after falling from a building, they were told. The police believed it was suicide. The grief-stricken parents flew to San Francisco and were taken to the city morgue to identify the body of their son. They recognized him, but to their horror they also discovered something they didn't know, their son had only one arm and one leg. The parents in this story are like many of us. We find it easy to love those who are good-looking or fun to have around, but we don't like people who inconvenience us or make us feel uncomfortable. We would rather stay away from people who aren't as healthy, beautiful, or smart as we are.

Please share the love of God with every one you find on your way…

P.S. MR, will you please stop pointing fingers to my post since it doesn't suit a moderator. I never thought for a moment whether pic is real or not. I reserve my intelligence and useful resources in other areas of life.

I dont really care what you think about my opinions. However I am pointing out that if you are going to reference your subject with a picture, ensure it is legitimate otherwise you shoot down your own credibility. Fake pictures abound.

I also don't care what you think of picture I posted. As far as people are afraid of losing their hand and be careful with the machines, I am least bothered what few people think negatively.

I really need to be careful here but since there is freedom of speech I am commenting. I know Gopalpai you sure can dig one of my previous forums to bite me. I hope I am not throwing stone in mud. Here it comes:
There is a lot of junk out over there on internet, just imagine if everyone starts to pull the stuff and dump it over on this forum. I agree to the intention of helping out others but just review some of the jokes or some of the "be aware of" posts, they are new to you but were there for years. I agree with MR on above. These types of messages are solely created for spam. And also opening such sites could bring uninvited guests (virus) on your machine. Also the morale story that was posted..I read it when I was a kid.
Again apologies for hurting the feelings and hopefully you won't take it on ego and will continue to post quality messages.
