I am a foreign student and I was married to a Canadian citizen unfortunately my spouse and I were involved into a heated argument and she called the cops on me.
Anyhow long story short, I was jailed for two weeks on charges of domestic assault and damage to property under $5000 (damaging a cell phone worth $100).

I was then released after two weeks - time served since i had no criminal record earlier and was ordered some anger-management classes for a year or so.

After my release, I was really upset and took the first flight home to see my family.

I now wish to return to Canada and complete the last 2 semester of my education.

What are the chances of me getting my study permit if I make sure that I abide by all the conditions laid in my release?

I informed the correctional officer that I am leaving for my country the day I got my tickets and also left them a number to reach me if they wanted to.

Please let me know asap.

First and foremost. Do not bring these subject matters to a forum because all of what you are saying is very personal.

Answer these things to yourself.
1) Are you still married to the Canadian citizen?
2) Do you have a Marriage License issued to you both?
3) Did the Canadian Citizen sponsor you into Canada?
4) Are you still on the Student Visa?
5) Do you have a Multiple Entry Visa?
6) Are you still enrolled for your studies at the same location?
7) Can you return back into Canada on that Student Visa?
8) Before you entered into the cell, did they fingerprint you and take a mugshot?
9) When you get back apply for the removal and rescindment of the records.

It is regrettable that you got into such a quandary and your spouse went to such extreme measures to subdue you. You also did not get a second chance to clear all of the dis agreements and settle things amicably between yourselves.

Only if you can ever return back to Canada, you will be able to clear yourself and move on from there. And, all of this will depend upon the answers to the above. Which will again raise a few more questions, to which you can answer to yourself and the situations that arise can be analyzed based on those answers.

You are now on the other side of the pond. First thing you should have ascertained is for your re-entry into Canada before departure. Now you are in a Catch 22 mode. This might call for a legal intervention.

You are not in a clear frame of mind and feel used and abused. That is what I find from your write up above.

It will only return to normal after you fulfill your obligations to the legal requirements imposed upon you by the judge. Get a letter stating that you did complete it there. (Where ever you are currently) Then submit it to the Correctional Officer from there. Now clear your slate.

Freddie.

Short answer - Canada doesn't need people who treat women badly or abuse / beat them up.

Glad she called the cops!

Hi, thanks for the response. I suggest if you shouldn't stick your nose into something you know nothing about.

Take care

looks like you paid a very heavy price for getting angry. I am sure now, you don't get angry as much as before. ;)

anyways, this is not the end of the world. We all do mistake some time or other. Intelligence is in not repeating same mistake twice.

all the best. We will pray for your success.:)

I disagree. The point of discussion boards is to be able to bring up discussions, questions or topics that you wish to discuss, whether personal or not. The OP did not write any identifying personal information that would disclose his identity.
